UTIs (urinary tract infections) are annoying af. Whether you’re prone to them or just have the occasional pain and suffering, here are some ways that *might* help in staving these suckers off.
🚰 stay hydrated
🚽 pee after sex
🩲 wear clean, breathable, well-fitting underwear (preferably 100% cotton!)
🧼 avoid irritating genital hygiene products (soaps, sprays, deodorants, douches)
🧫 use vaginal probiotics — more info below 🔍
🚫 don’t hold your pee (let it go! ❄️)

First, what are probiotics?
“Probiotics are living microorganisms that, when ingested, provide a health benefit.” [@healthline] They are often thought of as “good bacteria” intended to maintain a healthy balance in your body. Probiotics fight off the bad bacteria and restore the good stuff.
You should, of course, always do your research and consult with your medical practitioner before taking any new supplements. We are definitely *not* saying probiotics are a cure-all nor will they necessarily work for everyone (which is true of any of the potential prevention methods in this post).
The evidence to support the recommendation of probiotics to prevent UTIs is *inconclusive.* This is critical to note. However, several studies have had promising results suggesting that high-quality probiotics can balance the vaginal microbiome.
